Jazla Al Husseini was born in 1965 in Damascus. She graduated in 1986 from the school of Fine Arts at Damascus University and from there went on to exhibit in both solo as well as group exhibitions in Syria and the region. Husseini drafted her works in her own style of visual arts, away from the conventions of academic schools of thought. Husseini combines in her works many different modes of creation such as etching, painting and sculpture. In her sculpture work she moves towards a diminution of the human figure while retaining visual expression. She is biased towards familial and human relationships and awards them both high importance in her practise. She relies on her simplistic figures and uses reality as a basis to portray the expressions and emotions that are needed.
